As I’ve been saying, my family loves San Diego – we are fortunate to only live 1.5-2 hours away from this beachside area, its gorgeous weather, and endless exploration opportunities. As much as we head down there, we’ve only scratched the surface on what they have to offer! With the kids, we have explored San Diego Zoo, the Safari Park, Legoland, Sea World, and the USS Midway, but there is still so much more – La Jolla, Children’s Museums, Balboa Park, and so many endless opportunities. Why the focus on San Diego today, the last day of September? Because in October, kids are free in much of San Diego! Yep – pretty much any major attraction joins the fun this month, and there are lots to choose from! In most cases, with every paid adult, one child gets free admission into San Diego’s hot attractions. This is a great opportunity to check out stuff on your bucket list in this fun city! We will be hitting Legoland in a few weeks. Many schools have fall breaks, so if you don’t have any travel plans yet, check out San Diego! And if you contact me, I’m always happy to take care of the work for ya! 🙂
Historic Old Town San Diego!
Great Crab Sopas at Barra Barra Saloon!
So much to see in Old Town!
Another note – we had a great stay this weekend in Old Town! I had forgotten about this gem in SD, and my kids loved it, too! They loved the old western feel, all the Mexican culture, entertainers, and street life. My son was fascinated by the old western look “are those buildings REAL?!” It’s also the best place in the world for true Mexican Food. There are many good places, but as we met friends with a puppy, we tried Barra Barra Saloon and made use of their pet friendly outdoor seating. It was fantastic! The food was great, the kids ate for free (KIDS FREE again!) and the margaritas were amazing and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it! We spent the night at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, which is easy walking distance from all the action. It was affordable, had a little pool for the kids, and fitness center where I tried to work off some of the Mexican food, and a full hot breakfast! All great amenities for family travel! We stayed in a standard room with a courtyard view, but they have some suites as well! I’d definitely stay there again!
