Welcome to We Cain Travel!  And well, first and foremost, thanks for reading!  While I’ve been a big fan of many in the blogosphere and have some friends that have started some pretty awesome ones, I never saw myself into that category. A dear friend of mine, upon seeing my (perhaps excessive) Instagram posts on my personal account about my travels and knowing my increasing passion for travel and its value told me this summer “You should write a blog!”  I hesitated – but the next day she followed up with more texts ”  I can see it – Instagram, link in profile – Cain Travel!  We Cain Travel!”

Well, nobody can resist a catchy pun, especially on their last name – that has so many cheesy possibilities!  So, here we are!  What exactly is the purpose of this blog? I’m not entirely sure yet on everything, but first and foremost, it’s to share my passion for travel and encourage that fire in others – to get out of where you live, big or small, and try to connect with places and people who are different than you.   This does not mean you have to go to Timbuktu –  it can even be done very well by a short excursion camping by your house – in fact, I think some of the best travel is to other areas of your own state or country that are not far away but most would never dream of visiting! True travel is based on the notion of getting out of your routine and interacting with another world. Hopefully, as Mark Twain said ““Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”   I feel in today’s climate, politically and socially, this is more important than ever.

So what will I write about? Experiences. Tastes, People. Beauty of all kinds.  Those all sound deep.  Also, on a more practical level – how to pack. Tips on how (and why) to travel with kids – I’ve got two, and at almost 4 and 7, they’re becoming pretty good at this on the go thing.  I also sometimes travel with my parents, who are in their 70s and have different (but sometimes similar) needs to kids 😉 so I have some tips there as well!

*I use aliases for my kids’ names to protect their online identity, and photos of them will be limited, but they’re almost always there, I promise there’s evidence! 🙂

Oh, and a big disclaimer. Yes, I am a travel agent. This was not a planned career choice, but something I took on part time and ended up loving a few years ago. So yes, I may plug myself (or my awesome colleagues) occasionally. I apologize in advance.  The business and this blog do naturally overlap, though that is not the blog’s (sole) purpose. I would love to talk to any readers who want help in planning their own travels, but I would like to talk to you regardless – business or pleasure!   On that topic, if you’re curious more about my travel agent side, you can check out my website with the awesome Magical Partners Travel here.

I’m sure there will be a lot more on the topics covered above in the future, but for now feel free to contact me with any questions – and enjoy We Cain Travel! (Trust me, you can too! 🙂 )
